Ashley and Colin’s wedding was molded by their own personal touches from the very beginning. Starting with Colin’s proposal, to the majority of the details on the actual day, theirs was a handcrafted affair.
For the proposal, Colin went to the local flower market with Ashley’s sister and picked out a ton of white flowers (Ashley’s favorite). He filled their apartment with the flowers and candles, and presented Ashley with a book he made that was filled with memorabilia from their 18 months of courtship – “all the restaurants we had visited and tons of little moments that were so very special to both of us,” Ashley said.
Choosing HammerSky Vineyards was a unanimous decision after visiting 20 California properties in person.
“I can still remember the feeling we had when we saw HammerSky for the first time,” Ashley said. “It was February, not the most beautiful time for a vineyard, but it was breathtaking. We tried to play it cool during our tour, but the second we were back in the car, we couldn’t stop gushing about every single detail. The beautiful oak trees, the modern tasting room, the lawn for dinner, the perfect barn for dancing. Everything was absolutely gorgeous and felt so very much like us. Each finish was exactly what we would have chosen ourselves and we knew it was the perfect location for our celebration.”
When it was time to create the actual pieces of the wedding, Ashley and Colin combined all of their craft and design skills. Colin designed and letter-pressed all of the paper goods himself, including the save-the-dates, invitations, menus and place cards. Ashley made most of the details, splashing a bit of gold glitter here and there to insert a bit of whimsy into their classic navy, gold and ivory palette.
“The result felt like the perfect blend of the two of us and set the tone perfectly for the day,” Ashley said.
