Emily and Tarik share the type of laid-back attitude you’d expect of Southern California natives. Tarik, a professional surfer, dressed his groomsmen in funky neck ties and skate shoes, and the group arrived to the wedding by motorboat. Emily distributed flasks to her bridesmaids – the kind that fasten to a garter belt and are concealed beneath a dress.
They married in an outdoor ceremony on the shore of South Lake Tahoe at the home of Tarik’s parents while Jaxon, their fair-haired, rosy-cheeked son, played gleefully with the floral arrangements.
Wedding coordinator Merrily Wed, with whom we frequently collaborate, transformed the family tennis court into a reception location worthy of a grand hotel ballroom.
Following the toasts and cake-cutting, Emily confided to me that she had hired us for our dancing photos – something we love to hear. Fortunately, her crowd did not disappoint on the dance floor, and we spent hours documenting the entertaining antics of her wired guests. And Tarik, as gracious as he was easy-going, repeatedly offered to do a back-flip into the pool for our cameras before family members prevailed upon him to save the acrobatics for another day.
