This was one of those weekends where rain was impending all across the country. Ben and I had a wedding in Healdsburg, CA, and Mauricio had Rebecca and Julien’s wedding in New York. Both families, on opposite sides of the country, were calling us in the days before their weddings, worried about the rain and trying to figure out a backup plan. I sent Rebecca links to colorful, vintage umbrellas and links to past rain photos of ours to assure her that rainy weddings actually turn out really cool.
But when you’re planning an outdoor ceremony at the New York Botanical Garden, those kinds of reassurances only go so far. The rain did come, but not until the very end of Rebecca and Julien’s ceremony. And wouldn’t you know… they got a fun rain photo out of it anyway 🙂 So really… the best of both worlds.
The reception continued on indoors under the gorgeous modern chandeliers that seemed to mimic Rebecca’s Lela Rose gown. There were definitely no more worries about weather as everyone listened to the heartfelt speeches, had a great dinner, and danced the night away.
As for the California wedding, they saw their share of rain too, but it brought out some of the most beautiful light we’ve ever seen, just in time for portraits. We’ll be posting that wedding next.
