We have known Yael and Or for several years through Yael’s father’s company, Digilabs, which is the only online gallery system we have ever used. In addition to knowing them through the wedding industry, they have also become really good friends. So being given the opportunity to photograph their wedding this summer in Israel was a big bundle of wonderful pieces all wrapped into one – we got to hang out with our friends; see a new country (by far one of the most fun and interesting places we’ve ever been); shoot portraits in the ancient city of Jerusalem; and, simply put, photograph a really good wedding.
Although they live in Pittsburgh now while Yael attends graduate school, it was important to them to have their wedding in Israel. They both grew up there, and most of their friends and family are there. Yael and Or have known one another since the second grade, and were even boyfriend-girlfriend in the fifth and sixth grades. Yael and her family moved to California when she was a teenager, but Yael moved back to Tel Aviv right after college, and she and Or got back together. They’ve been a couple ever since. Yael and Or were fantastic hosts during our week in Israel – touring us around Jerusalem, taking us for a swim in the Dead Sea, and showing us the nightlife in Tel Aviv, where we even got to party with them on their bachelor/bachelorette nights.
