We may live in San Francisco, but somehow we keep leaving our hearts in Mississippi. We have been fortunate enough to photograph several Mississippi weddings, in Natchez and Clarksdale. We love the historic antebellum homes in Natchez and the rich Delta blues culture in Clarksdale.
Here are three reasons we love Mississippi weddings:
1. Having a beautiful antebellum mansion as the backdrop for your ceremony. There are many in Natchez that can be rented out for weddings.
2. Southern food! Southern wedding receptions are one of our favorites – the trend seems to be food stations that are refreshed throughout the entire evening, so if you get hungry on the dance floor, you can just take a break and have a few more oysters or another bowl of shrimp and grits.
3. Mississippi weddings offer a great opportunity to hire a good soul band or jazz band. Bands keep the energy high at wedding receptions.

Brandon Hall Plantation, Natchez, Mississippi

Kara grew up in Natchez, conditioned in Southern charm among the stately antebellum homes, so it was only natural to want to have her wedding at a Natchez plantation.

Clarksdale, Mississippi

A Clarksdale wedding wouldn’t be complete without portraits downtown and an afterparty at the famous Ground Zero blues club.

Natchez, Mississippi

When you think of big Southern plantation weddings, you think of weddings like Becky and Kellen’s. And there is no southern town we feel more of a connection with than Natchez, Mississippi.

The first email I received from Vicki said she and Jacob were thinking about getting married in Taos, NM. Then it changed to Idaho. Then Thailand. And then finally Mississippi.
