Charleston's variety of beaches make it a highly sought-after destination for beach weddings. Here is a list of the best beach wedding venues in Charleston:
Sullivan's Island: Actors Reese Witherspoon and Bill Murray both have homes on Sullivan's Island. This is a quieter, more tranquil stretch of beach with fewer people. The only dedicated Sullivan's Island wedding venue is the Sand Dunes Club. It is located right on the beach. It is reserved for employees of SCE&G. If you want to get married here and you are using Chrisman Studios as your photographer, Erin may be able to help you secure the Sand Dunes Club for your wedding. You can also choose to get married right on the beach, with permission from the Town of Sullivan's Island, and have your reception elsewhere.
Isle of Palms: This is a more populated Charleston vacation spot, so the beach will have more people, but that also means there's more to do - bars, restaurants, entertainment. You can get married at Wild Dunes Resort - a 4-Diamond resort known for its fine catering and luxurious accommodations. Isle of Palms is also home to the Citadel Beach Club, an elegant oceanfront event venue.
Folly Beach: Folly Beach is the most casual and unassuming beach in Charleston. This was Erin's beach when she was growing up on James Island, just down the road from Folly. This is still her family's go-to beach. If you're getting married at Folly, you're going to want to rent a vacation house and have a small ceremony there on the lawn or on the beach. Folly Beach is more of a vacation rental beach than a hotel beach. One thing we love about Folly is that it's easily walkable to surf shops, bars and restaurants.
Kiawah Island: This is by far the Charleston area's most luxurious, high-end beach. You can have a lawn or beach ceremony, and a reception in Kiawah's elegant ballroom. Kiawah is also happy to arrange a more casual cookout for your guests as a rehearsal dinner or an alternative to the formal ballroom reception.
