Jewish weddings have always been one of our favorite types of weddings to photograph because of the rich, cultural traditions involved. So getting the chance to photograph a traditional Jewish wedding in Israel was huge treat and an unforgettable experience. Yael and Or were glowing with happiness all day, and their reception was one of the wildest, colorful parties we’ve ever shot. We arrived in Tel Aviv a few days before the wedding so we could spend some time soaking up the sights and the nightlife. We even got to go on Yael and Or’s bachelor nights with them and their friends! If you’re planning a destination wedding in Israel, here are some ideas for extra things to do with your family and friends, especially if they are coming in from out of town.
1. Spend a day in Jerusalem, where you can walk around the old city and see many holy sites of the Jewish and Christian faiths, including the site where Jesus Christ was believed to have been crucified. We did a pre-wedding portrait session of Yael and Or around the old city.
2. Visit the Dead Sea, where you can float on top of the water and rub the oily mineral-rich mud all over your body for its supposed therapeutic effects.
3. Make sure to eat lots of shawarma!
