So many brides and grooms dream of having their wedding at Lake Tahoe, and for good reason. Summers in Tahoe are absolutely perfect - sunny and warm during the day, and mild at night. If you schedule your wedding in July, chances are you will have absolutely zero chance of rain, which is a great assurance if you have your heart set on an outdoor wedding! And there’s nothing like looking out at that huge, pristine, blue water while you say your vows. Lake Tahoe is rimmed with some of the most impressive private estates in California, which make for perfect wedding locations. Many couples will rent a private estate for the week, and have their wedding there, so everything can be in one place.
Here are some tips for planning the perfect Tahoe wedding, from the perspective of your wedding photographer:
1. The best months for Tahoe weddings are July, August and September. July being the absolute best for warm weather and no rain!
2. Everyone wants to have their ceremony overlooking the lake, but make sure to schedule it late enough in the day so the sun is low and won’t cast unflattering shadows on your face.
3. Outdoor weddings are the most popular type of Tahoe wedding, so if you decide to have an outdoor reception under the stars (with no tent) make sure to bring in a lot extra lighting such as strings of twinkle lights. Extra lighting will help make your photos warmer by adding colors to the background instead of just darkness and direct flash.
4. Remind your guests to bring wraps or sweaters for the evening.
