Our beautiful Southern couple Camille and David had a sunset garden wedding in front of the chapel at The Cloister. They had a private dinner for two out on the lawn afterward, and danced the night away under a tent attached to the ballroom. It was a perfect destination wedding weekend, with many guests opting to stay in neighboring St. Simons Island, which has an adorable, easy-to-get-around downtown by the water.
Here are some tips for planning a fun destination wedding weekend in Sea Island:
- Book a Sea Island vacation rental home, and host a casual welcome party there Thursday night.
- Fill up beach bags with beach-themed favors and treats as your welcome bag for guests.
- Give your guests some downtime to enjoy the beach and all the great seafood restaurants on St. Simons Island. Some favorite restaurants we tried while there: Barbara Jean’s (for good downhome Southern cooking); Frederica Boat House (where the rehearsal dinner was); Iguana’s (amazing fried shrimp!)
