A mother’s intuition is a very real thing. In this case, it was crucial. It was a matter of life or death. Thank God Morgan trusted her intuition.
Morgan and Amir’s dreams came true when they had their first child, Gavin. But their hearts were not yet complete. They felt in the deepest depths of their souls that they were meant to be a family of four.
That road got a lot harder when they then learned that natural conception would not be possible for their second child. They began the process of IVF. The IVF experience can be a heart-wrenching, emotional roller coaster for everyone involved, so they were ecstatic to receive news that their second embryo transfer was successful and they had a healthy pregnancy. At the 8-week mark, Morgan went in for a checkup, and, to her utter shock and devastation, was told there was no longer a heartbeat and that she had lost her baby. Her doctor’s office scheduled a DNC procedure, and Morgan went home feeling heartbroken and numb – also very confused, as everything had pointed to a very healthy pregnancy.
The day she went in for her DNC, a feeling nagged at her. Something did not feel right about this. She demanded one final ultrasound before the embryo was removed from her uterus, just to be sure.
When the screen came to life, it was unmistakable. A strong, vibrant heartbeat. Everyone in the room could hear it. There were screams of shock and immediate tears of unbelievable relief. Their baby was very much alive, and healthy as ever.
It turns out that the clinic had a faulty ultrasound machine, which nearly led to the termination of a healthy pregnancy. It was only Morgan’s motherly intuition that reversed this fate. So these maternity portraits were about so much more than anyone can see merely by looking at the photos. Inside Morgan’s beautiful belly is another dream come true, the completion of their family, sustained by a mother’s unparalleled love and unmistakable feeling of connection to the life inside of her.
