These James Island family photos were all about celebrating life as a family of three, as they prepared to become a family of four.
The Gage family introduced us to a great new Charleston family session location (new to us anyway!) – Fort Lamar Heritage Preserve on James Island. This Civil War historic site is so peaceful, so serene and absolutely beautiful. We were the only ones there on an overcast but warm winter day in December.
We took a short, easy hike down the trail that leads to a tucked-away beach by the marsh, and let Vivian explore and be her little vibrant 2-year-old self. It was a really special afternoon that ended with the three of them playing music (something Vivian and her dad love to do together.)
I always tell parents how important it is to have photographs that show their first child what life was like when it was just them, before their sibling came along. But I never had to tell the Gage family this. Right now they are all about Vivian. Any day now, she’ll have a little brother sharing space in the house, and in her parents’ hearts. But right now, this is her time. And she will always have the memories of that, through these photographs.
