These Mount Pleasant family photos were a celebration of the Korbel family’s new life in Charleston, after moving here from Washington D.C. in the pandemic.
They lived in an apartment in downtown D.C., and as the pandemic began to get worse, they became nervous. They wanted to escape their busy city where they were surrounded by so many people, and knew they’d feel a lot better having more breathing room during the lockdown. Luckily, their parents had a house in Charleston and offered up their home to them for a few months.
The Korbels loved it so much they bought a house of their own and have decided to call Mount Pleasant home for the long run. They now spend quiet days working from home and soaking up quality time with their 1-year-old daughter.
We spent the afternoon exploring their beautiful neighborhood, getting in lots of baby cuddles and laughter, and catching a gorgeous sunset. It was the kind of afternoon they often have on any given day, taking walks through the park and strolling the pier.
The pandemic has caused so many people to re-evaluate their priorities. For the Korbels, that meant starting a new chapter in their lives where they could feel safer and happier. Charleston is lucky to have them, and I can’t wait to see what life will look like for them from here on out.
