Beth and Alan’s wedding was our second time shooting at Cornerstone Sonoma. When Mauricio shot Sapna and Andy’s wedding there a few years ago, it was called Cornerstone Gardens. But the natural beauty and interesting sculptural art that have always defined this gorgeous Sonoma wedding venue have remained just as alluring.
This was a destination wedding for Beth and Alan, who live in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada. They fell in love with Sonoma while on a rare vacation. They own a clothing store in Thunder Bay called The Loop (very cool stuff, you should check it out), which keeps them extremely busy.
“We opened our clothing store a couple years after we started dating, and don’t get to travel,” Alan said. “Beth wanted to do something special for her 30th champagne birthday, and we found ourselves going to San Fran and wine country for our first vacation together in 7 years.”
They chose to have a lowlight ceremony, lit by chandeliers and twinkle lights, in the beautiful Garden Barn at Cornerstone. Afterward, they did portraits outdoors among the modern environmental sculptures. Their emotional speeches took place outside, and then everyone returned to the barn for the dinner and party.
And what a party it was, complete with a dance performance by the bride herself – a dance called the Italian Tarantella – and Beth’s family tradition of singing “That’s Amore” in a big circle. There were also some impressive moves by the groom (I mean, seriously, a toe-touch? Amazing).
Beth and Alan, we’re proud we got to be there for your first day as husband and wife. We hope you’ll always have fond memories of beautiful Sonoma. We will certainly remember you as one of our happiest, most delightful couples ever.
