Hillary and Shaun met 10 years ago while in high school. He was a senior football player, and she was a freshman cheerleader. They would see other around but didn’t officially meet until they found themselves at a community festival one night in their hometown of Portland, Texas.
They now live in Corpus Christi and were engaged for three years before making the decision to elope. It was an opportunity to travel somewhere interesting together, just the two of them, AND take their first plane ride ever.
They chose the iconic Muir Woods in San Francisco. We met up at the entrance, along with the officiant, and videographer Kyle Henry of Hit Maker Films and his second shooter Alex. It was a magical walk into the forest, with the most perfect cool afternoon light filtering through the giant redwoods. They were both calm and confident as they read their vows to one another, Hillary looking absolutely ethereal in an antique-white dress and flower crown.
We did portraits in Muir Woods, then a few Golden Gate Bridge photos at dusk. Afterward, Ben and I dropped Hillary and Shaun off for their wedding dinner at one of our favorite San Francisco restaurants, Foreign Cinema. We watched them walk down the sidewalk, holding hands, smiling peacefully.
Make sure to watch Kyle’s adorable film from the wedding here.
