I always knew I was going to love Juliet after our year of emails and phone calls leading up to the wedding, and she certainly made that true when we finally met in person at the rehearsal dinner (at Hill Country BBQ). And Ben said the same thing about Mike after spending most of the wedding day by his side. Mike is an earnest, kind-hearted man who has so captured Juliet’s heart that she could not take her eyes off of him the entire day of their Manhattan wedding.
Juliet is a classic New Yorker, and she and Mike had a classic New York wedding, with a formal church ceremony at Saint Ignatius Loyola, and reception at the historic New York Athletic Club, where her parents are members.
In between, we stopped for burgers at J.G. Melon, portraits in Central Park, and even visited her parents’ building, where Juliet grew up, to get a photo of Juliet with the doormen whom she has known for years. The Athletic Club ballroom reception was sophisticated and fun. The band’s female rapper certainly got the crowd going, and the dance floor stayed packed. The entire day was orchestrated perfectly by Michael of Michael Henry Events.
We liked this group so much that we followed them to the afterparty down the street from the Athletic Club, where, in true New York fashion, Juliet and Mike ordered 30 pizzas for their friends who had just danced all the energy out of themselves.
When it was all over, we watched Juliet and Mike walk hand in hand down the street, she in flip-flops, him carrying her high heels. It was a well-deserved quiet moment for these newlyweds after two days of parties. And considering they are currently living in different states, New York and Ohio, for their jobs, I certainly hope they find a way to have many more walks home just like this one.
