Spending the weekend with Kristen and Shawn felt like hanging out with friends we’ve known for years. Dave Getzschman and I flew into Pittsburg and drove down to Maryland that Friday night, where we found Kristen and Shawn ending dinner and heading to the bar. So that’s where we went too, and within the hour, we had learned about and bonded with everyone there.
The next day, we photographed Kristen and Shawn for a last-minute engagement session around the lake, and found some of the best light I’ve seen in many months. The following day was the wedding. And since Shawn is also a photographer (he shoots for the Baltimore Ravens football team), he and Kristen knew exactly how to find a great backdrop. The rural barn setting of the Chanteclair Farm gave us everything we hope for at a wedding. And we lucked out with another day of beautiful light.
At the reception, Shawn proved his talents with a guitar and serenaded Kristen in front of everyone, before then putting a scuba mask on to find her garter under her dress. The reception ended with releasing dozens of floating lanterns into the starry sky. But the night wasn’t over. We all headed to an afterparty at the lake house where Dave and I learned about Fireball whiskey and everyone fed each other whipped cream. It was a great ending to a great weekend. Thank you Kristen and Shawn for inviting us into your world. We look forward to knowing you for years to come.
