Mimi&Stuart

City View at METREON, San Francisco, California

This story is about an Indian girl who grew up in California, moved to New York City, took an apartment across the hall from a Scottish guy, where they eventually met, flirted, dated, fell in love, and planned a wedding back across the country in San Francisco.

This culture combination made for a fun, unique weekend where plaid kilts shared the dance floor with beaded saris; Scottish women got henna Mehndi designs for the first time and stuck little bindis on their foreheads; Indians got their first glimpse of traditional Scottish dancing; and Indians and Scots clinked glasses together at the special Scotch bar set up at the reception.

Mimi and Stuart have amazing chemistry together. They laugh constantly; they are at ease around one another; and they are a lot of fun to be around. Their ceremony on the rooftop terrace of City View at METREON was full of love and laughter, and spectacular views of San Francisco. Everyone continued indoors for a party set to great 80s music, and performances by an Indian dance troupe as well as a Scottish dance troupe.

But I must say that a highlight for me personally was Mimi and Stuart’s first dance to “More than This” by Roxy Music, one of my favorite bands. Roxy Music isn’t a typical first dance choice, but it was a meaningful choice for them (and an undeniably beautiful song). Stuart grew up with his father constantly listening to Roxy Music, and came to love the band that way. In fact, Stuart’s dad had a hard time staying in his seat during the first dance and ended up pulling his wife onto the very edge of the floor so they could have a little dance of their own to their favorite band.

Mimi and Stuart, thank you for letting us be there for you. We had a blast and look forward to seeing you next time we’re in New York!
