Looking for a unique Southern wedding venue that will surprise and intrigue your guests? Charleston, South Carolina, offers the Old City Jail, a real jail that was operational from 1802 to 1939 and housed pirates and other notorious criminals. Our clients Caitlin and Aaron held their ceremony in one of the rooms inside the jail, lit by candles. For cocktail hour, guests wandered the hallways and jail rooms, sipping cocktails and having their photos made in one of the preserved jail cells. The reception brought guests back outside for a classic Southern wedding party under a big white tent constructed right beside the jail.
We love the gothic architecture of the Old City Jail, and the mystery and intrigue that come with being in such a storied location in the South.
