We always love when two people from different backgrounds find one another, fall in love, and blend their unique cultural traditions on their wedding day.
Kihana is African-American, and Sepehr is Persian. They chose to honor Sepehr’s Persian heritage with a traditional ceremony using a sofreh – a platform decorated with symbolic items that represent a couple’s new life together, including fruits, sweets, breads, flowers, candles and a mirror. Then during the reception, you can see one of Kihana’s relatives dancing in a traditional African dress.
Kihana and Sepehr were married at the San Francisco Design Center, a modern, blank-slate venue that allowed them to make it their own. It was a glamorous, classic San Francisco wedding day full of beauty, emotion, laughs and love. We were so proud to be there to witness their first day as husband and wife.
