In one of my favorite moments from Liz and Doug’s Four Seasons Palm Beach wedding, Liz’s father Conrad described in his speech how he and his wife Sandi would often wonder what they were ever going to do with this precocious, bold, opinionated child of theirs. “Little did we know, Doug’s parents were down in Florida wondering the exact same thing,” he said, to an uproar of laughter.
It’s true. You’d be hard-pressed to come up with a better match for Liz. Same goes for Doug. They are extremely intelligent, straight-talking, self-described nerds who are a bit set in their ways and make no apologies for that. They are devoted to their families – whom they affectionately refer to as their “pack” – they are loyal friends, they tell it like it is, and they default to meaningful conversation over smalltalk. It’s refreshing and rare to meet a couple like Liz and Doug, and we’re lucky that they have become our friends as much as our clients.
Liz is the sister of our Cornell wedding bride Kim, who along with Kim’s husband Peter has become one of our best friends since their Ithaca wedding four years ago. Because Kim is in Liz’s pack, we’ve gotten to know Liz over the years as well. And Liz and Kim’s parents have become like a second set of parents to us. We love this family, and getting to be with them in West Palm Beach for Liz’s wedding weekend was a wonderful experience.
They included us in everything they did – from a casual, intimate dinner with their closest family and friends on the first night, to the rehearsal dinner, and even a day-after sunset sailboat cruise where we drank fruity cocktails, danced on the bow and goofed off.
We were lucky to team up on this wedding with one of the best wedding videographers Vlad Chaloupka, who filmed our own wedding. Together, he and his second shooter created an engaging, hilarious, unique destination wedding video that we have watched over and over.
Liz and Doug, we love you and your amazing families and look forward to many more celebrations with you over the years!
