Post House Wedding
The charming, historic Post House in Mount Pleasant, SC, is the perfect wedding venue for small, intimate weddings.
Dawn and Joe were married in the beautiful Rose Room on the second floor, with 20 family members and close friends. They got ready in their suite at the Post House, then had their ceremony and wedding lunch in the Rose Room.
What we love about the Post House for weddings is its cozy, intimate feel. It’s a very small building that houses a restaurant and hotel rooms. From the moment you walk into the restaurant, the vibe is Southern chic, with a fresh, bright decor. We love the rich, jewel-toned hues of the guest suites. The rooms feel very luxe and comfortable, like fancy bedrooms in a very old Southern home. The Post House was built in 1896 and has been through several incarnations in its lifetime, including, yes, a Post Office.
All About the Rose Room
The Rose Room itself is simple and beautiful, with its own built-in bar. Dawn and Joe’s floral team created a stunning wedding lunch tablescape of pinks, blues and greens. Check out the photo of their menu to see what was served on the wedding day. But suffice it to say, the Post House is a beloved and highly acclaimed restaurant. During Dawn and Joe’s wedding lunch, there were a couple of toasts, and a cake cutting. But other than that, guests just enjoyed their time, and their amazing meal, together.
Where to Take Portraits at a Post House wedding
The Post House is in the Old Village of Mount Pleasant. The streets are old and beautiful, so you can definitely do some portraits there. However, we recommend going over to the Pitt Street Bridge, which is a six-minute drive from the Post House. For Dawn and Joe, everyone (and I mean, almost all of their 20 guests) met up at the Pitt Street Bridge the evening prior to the wedding, and we did all the family group shots then, as well as the more scenic portraits of Dawn and Joe. Dawn wore a different wedding dress, and everyone else was asked to wear shades of white, tan or green. Pitt Street Bridge offers beautiful views of the harbor as well as the iconic Ravenel Bridge.
On a sunny day, the late evening light is beautiful setting over the water. And because you have water on both sides, you can choose different angles of light, with the most beautiful backdrop no matter which direction you choose.
Visit the Post House website to inquire about reserving the Rose Room for your wedding.
